At a time when there is widespread consensus within the business community regarding the benefits of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), data from the 5th Etalentum Report reveals that only 9% of SMEs have moved beyond occasional use to integrate AI structurally through defined procedures, clear usage criteria and specific training.

From a business management perspective, AI has ceased to be a purely technological challenge and has become an issue related to human capital and organisational structure. The real “bottleneck” is not the availability of the technology, but the internal capability to use it safely. Respondents state that 80% of teams have a basic or intermediate level of knowledge, while only 2% of professionals within organisations are considered “experts” capable of designing complex workflows and automations.

Governance is also a concern, as 39% of organisations acknowledge that they have not yet formalised an official usage policy.
