Etalentum has prepared a ten-point guide with recommendations to help companies adapt their recruitment processes to the European Pay Transparency Directive. EU Directive 2023/970, designed to strengthen equal pay, introduces new obligations that directly affect job interviews and prohibits questions that were previously common in many recruitment processes. To help companies adapt to this new legal framework, Etalentum has published a free guide, available at https://dub.sh/lPpdZvh, outlining ten key principles for interviewing and assessing candidates correctly.

The document highlights that companies must adopt a proactive approach to pay transparency by communicating the salary range for the vacancy before the interview or at the beginning of it and avoiding vague expressions such as “salary according to experience”. They must also define realistic salary ranges, ensure internal pay equity and comply with the “no salary history” rule, which prohibits asking candidates directly or indirectly about their current or previous salary.

Finally, the guide emphasises the need to avoid bias related to age, gender or origin throughout every stage of the recruitment process. This involves using precise language in job advertisements, asking open and standardised questions, and preparing neutral assessment reports focused exclusively on professional experience, competencies and suitability for the position.
